I am also going to assume that when the restore was done your Norton product was not removed and reinstalled. This would explain the symptoms you describe. May I suggest that you use the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool to clean everything up and get your copy running correctly.

Overall Review: I work on computers at work and on many outside of work and routinely install the trial on other peoples computers to clean up what other AV programs miss, if it's not to far gone to allow installing anything.
